FAQ

while i deeply appreciate curiosity + am often happy to satisfy it, i have to preserve my energy a good deal and can't offer correspondence to most! here's some answers to questions ive gotten a lot.

can you tell me what you used to build this site?

you bet! check this colophon page over here.

what do you use for art?

i've been using the same trusty refurbished 2018 ipad pro for 6 years, and i dread the day it finally goes kaput. most of what you see is done in procreate, but i increasingly juggle back and forth between procreate and artset to finish up the same canvas.

where'd you learn?

i'm primarily self-taught. i made the mistake of going to art school for a single year only-- you don't learn anything while your spine is actively breaking, and most of what that year taught me had more to do with the cruelty of upper-middles and the uselessness of merchant-class education at the end of capitalism. everything you need is online, in libraries, and in the company of knowledge-minded peers. stay out of the meat grinder!

can i commission you?

the answer to this question is almost always going to be No. i would take commissions much more frequently if health allowed, but it does not. keeping my body functioning is my fulltime job, and i am never allowed to clock out. art has become a pressure-release valve to keep survival possible. i make the absolute rarest of exceptions for good friends and people i have known for a very long time, and only in arrangements where it is understood to the fullest extent possible that my health may fail and i may need to refund them at any time. i deeply appreciate that you might want a commission, but i do not provide a contact for this reason.

can i repost/save/use your art?

yes, for personal and non-commercial processes only. while the majority of these works are personal, i've also never found a way for copyright and intellectual property to make philosophical or political sense, so i can't grant it any credence beyond respecting the wishes of other people. linking back to my website or my furaffinity is appreciated. it would also be unkind to say that you made it instead of me, because that is known as lying.

many of the characters you see in pieces can be understood as direct reflections of inner processes and "self". they also aren't and can't be 1:1 manifestations of self as soon as they reach your eyes. i respect the privacy of what goes on inside of you, and the creativity of your own head, if my stuff becomes part of the sea that feeds it.

i understand that these concepts are not sacred to capitalists, and that nothing except rendering my work uninteresting and unprofitable to capital may adequately scare off vultures with dollar signs for eyes. provided that you're reading this as someone who hasn't sold their soul, though, all of this might hopefully stick. TLDR: print out that piece and stick it on your wall! i dont give a shit. better you than walmart.

i have questions about the specifics of your disability.

well believe it or not, that doesn't make me cranky! i enjoy talking about bodies-- people learn a lot about each other and themselves. the problem is that retreading this ground too frequently is one hell of an energy sink, especially in a world that is often eager to be cruel about these things. and doubly unfortunate, when so much of what makes disabled living uniquely joyful is found in the camaraderie and rapport of trading anecdotes! i'm sorry that i may not be able to answer something specific, but i'm always spinning a lot of plates.

what i can do is hand you a few links with more info.
